It is a headline we had hoped that we would never have to write, but unfortunately the England national cricket team gave us no option with a spineless 4th Ashes Test defeat to Australia at Headingley.
The innings and 80 run defeat to Ricky Ponting and co was evidence enough that barring an absolute miracle the Ashes Urn will be returning Down Under in two weeks time.
Although the series is only tied at 1-1, Australia will retain the Ashes if they avoid defeat in the 5th Test at the Oval. England must win, but judging on the weekend’s performance it’s hard to draw any positives on what was utter capitulation by England.
