In the Quickstep corner: Carlos Barredo

Stage 6 saw the first scrap of this year’s Tour de France as Quickstep’s Carlos Barredo and Rui Costa exchanged handbags after crossing the finishing line in Gueugnon.

After completing the longest stage of Le Tour at a distance of 227.5km, the scuffle suddenly broke out between the two riders, but organisers were quick to step in and restore the peace.

The pair have been slapped with fines of 400 Swiss Francs (about $380 US dollars) for ‘insults, threats and incorrect behaviour’ and warned against similar episodes of school girl fighting in the future.
