Don’t you just hate when people with no real intellect make sweeping statements here, there and everywhere. Well, sports commentator and general all round loud mouth Rush Limbaugh is that man.
In 2003, Limbaugh worked as an NFL commentator with ESPN. He had to resign a few weeks into the 2003 NFL season after making comments about the press coverage for quarterback Donovan McNabb, which several critics construed as racist.
The gist of Limbaugh’s argument was that McNabb had been built up by the media as a superstar when in fact all they wanted was a black quarterback to succeed in the NFL.
Limbaugh’s argument didn’t hold up, there were already several successful black quarterbacks in the NFL and McNabb had arguably been the Eagles best player for a good three years.
The book “Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot” by Al Franken delves more into the psyche of Limbaugh, but we think comic legend Bill Hicks hits the nail on the head.
