With the help of a beach ball Darren Bent scores for Sunderland

There have been some strange goals in the Premier League, but last Saturday’s ‘beach ball goal’ at the Stadium of Light has to be the most bizarre of the lot.

In his wisdom a young Liverpool supporter decided to throw a Liverpool beach ball onto the pitch during Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Sunderland. Perhaps he thought it would be big and clever to do so and thus gaining the respect of his scouse mates.

One thing that we’re sure didn’t go through his tiny scouse brain was that the beach ball may prove a decisive instrument in a Sunderland goal.
