Brown in Fabregas spat

Hull manager Phil Brown blows his top over Fab-spat-gate

Hull manager Phil Brown blows his top over Fab-spat-gate

Hull manager Phil Brown was visibly seething during last night’s press conference after witnessing his side crash out of the FA Cup. The defeat was not his main bone of contention, but rather Arsenal’s captain Cesc Fabregas, who he says spat at his assistant Brian Horton.

A furious Brown said “For their club captain Cesc Fabregas to spit at my assistant at the end of the game shows you what this club is all about.”

Fabregas has hit back by issuing a statement on the Arsenal website, which read “I categorically deny that I spat at anybody after the match.”

”I have never done this in my whole career on the pitch, so why would I do it when I am not even playing?”

”I can understand the frustration of losing a game to a dubious goal, that has happened to me many times in my career as well, but this is not the fault of me or any of the Arsenal players.”

Tigers assistant manager Brian Horton said: “I am speaking to the LMA and want to take this further” while the LMA have confirmed that they have received contact from Hull: “As the incidents fall firmly within the jurisdiction of the Football Association, who are making their investigations in the prescribed manner, neither the LMA nor Brian Horton will be making any further comment at this time.”

However with referee Mike Riley nor any of the other match officials mentioning the incident in their reports it may mean that Hull will be forced to swallow it on this occasion.
