New Stoke signing John Carew recently unveiled a great big tattoo on his neck, but all is not what it seems with the fresh and very permanent ink.
Apparently there is some confusion over the exact spelling of the tattoo, which his teammates will only be to pleased to learn of. Carew had the words reads ‘Ma Vie, Mes Régles’ etched onto his neck, which should translate to ‘My Life, My Rules’.
However, it seems that a rogue accent over the word ‘Régles’ means that it is subject to a completely different interpretation and translates as either ‘My Life, My Period’ or ‘My Life, My Menstruation’.
Ooopsie.

Please check your dictionary! “Règles” is always spelled with “è”, and “Régle” doesn’t mean a thing.
It’s just a stupid mistake.
And if you suggest that one might think of “menstruation” in stead of “rules”… even though it is the same word in French, then you’re a bit too far out, and obviously not French
Wrong! The actual translation is ‘I am a complete dick’
It actually translates to “My Life, My Rules”!
Ma Vie, Mes Régles does mean what he intended it to be but it has highlighted the issue of please check and check again before you get inked. I have seen some funny mistakes, one was my brothers fellow squaddie mate, he was very proud of his new tattoo done in Germany where he was posted at the time, it was of a Grenadier Guard with the traditional bears skin on and Grenadier Guards in an arch underneath however it was spelt Gaurds.
