POWELL HOPEful of landing Grimsby job

Hope Powell - Next Grimsby manager?

Hope Powell - Next Grimsby manager?

Have women taken it too far this time? First we give them the right to own a property. Then we gave them the vote, but now they want to manage our football teams.

Ok, so it’s not a very good football team, but it’s a football team nevertheless. The woman in question is Hope Powell, who is being rumoured to be interested in the vacant Grimsby manager’s job by the Daily Mail.

The irony of Powell being linked to the Blundell Park job is surely not lost on Grimsby fans who have endured a fairly torrid time with Mike ‘I am sexist’ Newell at the helm. Newell, of course, had a very dim view of women in football and famously said the following about a female official:

“She should not be here. I know that sounds sexist, but I am sexist, so I am not going to be anything other than that. We have a problem in this country with political correctness, and bringing women into the game is not the way to improve refereeing and officialdom.

It is absolutely beyond belief. It is bad enough with the incapable referees and linesmen we have, but if you start bringing in women, you have big problems.

This is not park football, so what are women doing here? It is tokenism, for the politically-correct idiots.”

Oh what to hear Mikey’s thoughts right now on the prospect of a woman filling his boots…

  1. The author of this article is a total disgrace. The line “Ok, so it’s not a very good football team” is absolutely scandalous. Grimsby are held in very high regard in the football community, and just because they’re not performing to their usual standards at the moment, we still recognise Grimsby as a club with great tradition, grace, and still a club who won’t give in to the evil that commercialism brings.

For instance, I would much rather support Grimsby Town than a club being compromised by corrupt investment. Take QPR for instance, just take a look at what damage he has done to the club. QPR have sold their souls, and look at them now… every manager they take on have to act as mere puppets to their masters with the team being picked by the people upstairs, transfers going through without approval from their gaffer and just recently Jim Magilton head butting his own players!

So don’t tell me that Grimsby are not ‘a very good football team’ because compared with the commercially corrupt, Grimsby are refreshingly very pure and that’s what football is all about.

1 win at home all season, 2 away… Hmmm the description that Grimsby are ‘not a very good football team’ seems somewhat generous don’t you think?

No one’s attacking Grimsby Football Club here, just making light of the fact that Hope Powell was being heavily linked with the vacant Grimsby manager’s job in the wake of the most sexist man in football departing Blundell Park.

Not sure where the QPR rant ties in with any of the above. It seems as bizarre as the assertion that Grimsby are ‘refreshingly very pure’…
