World’s longest football match completed

Time for a well earned rest

A new record was made at the end of last week as the world’s longest ever football match finished after 35 hours of play!

Cotswold All Stars beat Cambray FC 333-293 in the charity match that helped raise £30,000 to build a school in India.

If it were not for the typical British weather then the match would have gone on much longer and the huge 626 goal tally would have been surpassed.

The match which started on Friday 30th of April was overseen by Guinness officials who made sure everything was done to strict rules. Each player had to be on the pitch for at least 3 hours before a substitution was made from their 18 men squads.

It looks like the players must have got quite tired towards the end of the match because 626 goals equals roughly 27 goals per each 90 minutes of the 35 hour match. Even if you were able to take part in free online betting you certainly wouldn’t have bet on that many goals.
