NFL twitter ban hurts Ochocinco

Ochocinco - 'It’s just as tough and emotional for me as losing my Johnson'

As we have seen with our own pampered prima-donnas, sports stars and Twitter is not always a match made in heaven. Let’s face it sportsmen and women are often a few fries short of a Happy Meal so engaging in a little process called thinking can be problematic. Darren Bent anyone?

To combat this across the pond, the NFL has released a social media policy that bans the use of Twitter before, during and after any game.

The ban comes in the wake of NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco releasing a half-time statement during the Bengals clash with the Patriots on the 20th August, which read…

“‘Esteban’ Ochocinco is back…. The most interesting footballer in the world. Everyone has to remember, I’ve always said that soccer is my number-one sport. I think Ronaldinho would be proud of me right now.”

Ochocinco, who has over 170,000 followers on Twitter and also uses the video streaming platform Ustream, has taken the news of the ban like a big baby. The Bengals ace had this to say…

“I understand where the NFL is coming from, I understand where [Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis] is coming from. But uh, again I have not been a distraction with Twitter or Ustream, and I have not hurt anyone. … I mean losing my Twitter and losing my Ustream … it’s just as tough and emotional for me as losing my Johnson.”

The ‘losing my Johnson’ extract is in reference to him changing his old last name. Or at least that’s what we hope it is…

Check out the video below to see how ridiculously emotional Ochocinco becomes after learning of the ban. Get a grip fella!
