Having had our hopes raised and then cruelly crushed during Tim Henman’s golden era, can Andy Murray finally send the country into complete and utter elation by ruling supreme at SW19?

The sight of a plethora of middle class housewives waiving the Union Jack on Henman Hill Murray Mound is one to saviour as Murray attempts to become the first British winner of the grass grand slam since Fred Perry.

Can he do it? Well Federer and Nadal will be the ones to beat, but if Murray finds himself in week two with the whole country and his dog on his side anything is possible. Let’s just hope it’s not a case of building him up for a big fall!
