Tennis fans at the Arthur Ashe Stadium were given a treat this week when Novak Djokovic and John McEnroe entertained the crowd with a brief tennis duel.
After dispatching of Radek Stepanek in three straight sets, Djokovic turned his attention to tennis legend John McEnroe who had been commentating on the last 16 US Open clash. The Serbian joker mimicked a stroppy Mac by pacing the baseline and hitting a serve straight into the net. The world number 4 then ran to the umpire screaming ‘It was wide’ before sending the New York crowd into laughter with the immortal words ‘You cannot be serious’.
Egged on by a mischievous Djokovic, McEnroe popped down from the commentary box to pit his wits against the Serb.
You can see Djokovic lean in and say “I let you have that” when they shake hands at the net, lol.
