Roger Federer described it as the ‘greatest shot I ever hit in my life’. A tennis shot that was audacious yet sublime and gave the defending US Open champion 3 match points in his semi-final clash with Novak Djokovic last night.
A defeated Djokovic was left his scratching his head at Fed’s moment of magic – “In these moments he comes up with some great shots. That shot. You heard the crowd. What can you say? You say well done. Too good. What can you do?”
Roger Federer, who saw out the match with a trademark forehand winner to triumph 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 7-5, will now meet Juan Martin del Potro in today’s US Open final as he looks to extend his unbeaten run at Flushing Meadows to 41 matches.
